We believe that our teaching approaches can help students realize their capability as writers and what it is they want to say.

• We believe in exposing students to a variety of genres and approaches (reading and writing).

• We believe in allowing for freedom/leeway throughout the writing process (student agency).

• We believe in finding a way to balance the focus on academic and practical purpose (real-world) writing.

•  We believe in students' rights to their own language and using the cultural diversity within classrooms as a resource for student literacy.

• We believe in helping our students become as digitally literate as their context allows.

• We believe in creating some opportunities for students to make choices about their own learning.
